Jack Swagger

Smackdown Results 2/1/13

Smackdown kicks off with a ring filled with a few former World Heavyweight Champions in the ring along with General Manager Booker T. and his assistant Teddy Long. Randy Orton, Sheamus, The Great Kahli, Dolph Ziggler, and Team Hell No all are trying to make their case on why they should be involved in the Elimination Chamber. As we reported here before, Ziggler actually removes himself from the match seeing as he’s the Money in the Bank winner and doesn’t need to be in the match. He exits and as we also reported in steps in Jack Swagger who’s been absent since September. He wants to put his name in the mix for Elimination Chamber. Booker T. says if anyone wants to be involved they would have to impress him and Teddy first. Tonight’s main event is set as Alberto Del Rio will take on Dolph Ziggler. He begins the show with a tag match (surprisingly) between Team Hell No vs. Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio.

The match is pretty back and forth. Pretty quick cool spots between Bryan/Mysterio/Sin Cara since they’re all similar in size. Mysterio won the match with a pin on Daniel Bryan.

Next up is Sheamus vs. Damien Sandow. Pretty back and forth match. Sandow more aggressive than usual. As Sheamus is clubbing Sandow on the apron The Shield comes from the crowd and surrounds the ring. Sheamus Brogue Kicks Rollins but still can’t get the upper hand. The Shield hit the triple power bomb on Sheamus and leave through the crowd.

Back from commercial break and Randy Orton makes his way to the ring. His opponent is Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett. Match kicks off at a quick pace with Orton getting much of the offense. After some back and forth exchange Barrett picks up the upper hand with a big boot to the face that leaves Orton on the apron. Pace slows as Barrett grounds Orton. Orton switches it up going for the guillotine DDT but Barrett reverses it. Barrett goes for the Bullhammer on the outside but Orton ducks and Barrett smashes his elbow on the post. They get back into the ring and after a quick exchange Orton hits the RKO for the win.

We come back from commercial with Matt Striker and Wade Barrett. As the interview is about to begin Barrett spots Bo Dallas and goes to town beating him down.

Cut back to the ring and Kofi Kingston makes his way down to the ring for his match against Jack Swagger. Swagger starts the match with some heavy Greco style wrestling. He give Kofi a breather but Kofi can only mount offense for a few seconds. Swagger definitely has some extra aggression as he’s not letting Kofi get much offense. Just as Kingston get cooking Swagger flattens him out. Lots of ground and pound coming from Swagger. Kingston counters with a monkey flips out of the corner. Now Kingston on the offense. Hits a monster double leg drop kick that sends Swagger to the outside. He went for Trouble in Paradise but Swagger ducks and Kofi’s shin bounces off the announce table. Swagger rolls him into the ring, slaps on the ankle lock, and Kofi taps out.

We head out to the parking lot where Del Rio spots an RV bus coming. Del Rio goes into hiding and waits for Big Show to exit the RV. When he does Del Rio starts swinging with the lead pipe he’s been holding. Show instantly tries to duck Del Rio’s shots even ending up on the top of the car. Del Rio sweeps his leg with the pipe and Show goes crashing into the top of the car. Big Show hops off the car and makes a dart for another parked car. He gets away before Del Rio can catch up to him.

We have a recap of the Raw segment between The Rock and CM Punk.

Dolph Zigger makes his way to the ring with Big E. Langston and AJ. As Del Rio was making his way to the ring Ricardo Rodriguez joins him. Del Rio tells him to stay back since he’s hurt. Back and forth armbars start the match off. Both men move to the corner and Del Rio goes for the moonsault. Ziggler moves out of the way but Del Rio is un-phased. After some back and forth Del Rio goes for another moonsault but as AJ has the ref distracted Langston sweeps his leg. After Del Rio gets his payback Langston gets ejected by the ref. After some more back and forth Del Rio lands a low super kick and goes for the cross arm breaker but Ziggler counters with The Fameasser. Del Rio counters a Zig Zag into the arm breaker and Dolph taps out. While Del Rio celebrates in the ring Big Show appears on the big screen holding a scared Ricardo Rodriguez. After some trash talk Big Show lays out Ricardo. Del Rio leaves the ring and sprints to his friend. We fade to black as Del Rio waits for medical attention. Good night folks.
