What’s this? A SmackDown recap on the site?!
The Wyatt Family comes out and cuts a promo on Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. Bray says It doesn’t matter if there is 3, 5, or 879 people take on the Wyatt Family, Braun Strowman says they all fall. Run.
Cesaro vs. The Miz
Cesaro still with sore ribs which are still taped up. Injured ribs don’t seem to stop Cesaro from knocking Miz off the top rope with a dropkick. The closing of the match was really cool. Miz was doing a great job of targeting the ribs. He took too long in his attack however. This allows Cesaro time to trap the leg and turn it into a solid Sharpshooter. A shoutout to his tag partner Tyson Kidd who is on the shelf. Miz has choice but to tap out. Pretty good match.
Roman Reigns tells Renee that Dean had the bright idea to ask Roman’s cousin Jimmy Uso to be their partner tonight on SmackDown. He’s hesitant to involve another family member but Jimmy is a great choice.
Paige vs. Sasha Banks
Paige is really good at those pre-recorded promos before matches. So is Sasha. Good good.
Things get heated before the bell which causes the official kicking out the other members Team PCB and Team B.A.D.
This match is straight hot fire. Didn’t want it to end. All hell breaks loose and the referee loses all order so he calls for the bell. The remaining members of Team PCB and Team B. A. D. storm the ring to add more chaos. This pull apart is like Lesnar/Taker at a 3 which is great for the Divas. Anger! Animosity! Reason! That’s what we want!
We get a replay of Monday Night Raw’s main event which is cool because I missed most of it and New Day was amazing apparently. They were. This stuff may be the stuff that puts them in the Hall of Fame one day and I’m not even joking. So what if they’re so good people end up liking them? Keep them heel. Play stupid. Trust me, it’s money. Rollins thinks this whole thing is a conspiracy, wondering if everyone is against him. Great stuff.
Byron Saxton talks to the champ Seth Rollins who asks what is on his mind. Rollins says Monday was the lowest point of his entire career. He says he’s going to crush Sting’s dream just like he crushed Seth’s statue. He requested tonight’s Lumberjack Match. He says he’s ready for Night of Champions. He looks like he’s losing it.
The New Day vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Jimmy Uso
Man I really miss the Usos. Either one amps up the excitement to another level. New Day takes it to another level all around from every aspect. They are without a doubt the most entertaining aspect of WWE programming. Woods goes for that flipping leaping punch but Roman catches him with the Superman Punch. Jimmy goes up top for the splash and the win!
*Lights Go Out*
Lights go back on and Jimmy Uso is nowhere to be found. He’s on the stage being choked out by Braun Strowman as the Wyatt Family looks on!
*Lights Go Out Again*
Dean and Roman are on the ramp entrance with a laid out Jimmy Uso. The voice of Bray Wyatt says one by one they all fall down. Is anyone safe out here?!
Lucha Dragons vs. The Ascension (w/ Stardust)
Finally The Ascension have a purpose. And this works so well with this whole fantasy aspect of Stardust. Throw in some Neville and Lucha Dragons and you’ve got money on your hands. As far as the match it was pretty much dominated by The Ascension. A simple distraction from Stardust allows Viktor to hit a running STO. Ascension hit the Fall of Man and pick up the win.
The Ascension and Stardust give the Lucha Dragons a post match beat down when suddenly…
The music of Neville hits and the Man That Gravity Forgot goes sprinting to the ring making a B line for Stardust who escaped just in time. Yay Superheroes!
Back from break with Renee and Divas Champion Nikki Bella. Nikki cuts a jumbled promo so bad that Charlotte interrupts and kills on the mic. Woooooo.
Seth Rollins vs. Ryback – Lumberjack Match
I’m not a fan of Lumberjack Matches. I don’t know, it’s just a gimmick match that has no pizzazz anymore. The last decent one we saw was during the Ambrose/Rollins feud and before that I can’t even remember. The bright spot is Ryback is getting better with each showing.
The faces beat up and force the heel back in while the heels do the same to the face. Master heel Kevin Owens intervenes in this no DQ match and allows Rollins to hit the Pedigree. Looks like they’re setting up for Ryback/Owens perhaps for the Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions. That’s the end of the show. I thought it was a pretty good show, well worth the watch. What did you think?
