Hello everyone and welcome to the Scavenger Hunt! I am the man known as @HobosGhost on Twitter (real name Simon) and each week for the last year and a half I have been compiling five clips every Friday from the world of wrestling for you to have a look at. Over 200 clips have been used and I am always up for anyone submitting clips.
Kicking things off is a match from France but for the CWA company who were based in Austria as Steve Casey fights with the Belfast Bruiser Fit Finlay!
CWA was Catch Wrestling Association and they were a big European promotion attracting talent from around the world. They were based in Austria but they performed in other countries such as France, Germany and South Africa. Talent who performed for CWA included Andre The Giant, Lance Storm, Giant Haystacks, Baron Von Raschke, Terry Funk, The Bushwhackers and many more. The company ran shows from 1973 until it shut it’s doors in 1999.
A European style of wrestling mixed with Finlay being busted open and a finish you couldn’t get away with nowadays!

Sammy Lee (Tiger Mask) vs Sid Cooper
Sticking with Europe as we head to my home country of England as the heel Sid Cooper does battle with Sammy Lee AKA the original Tiger Mask!
Satoru Sayama was the first of four wrestlers to don the Tiger Mask attire. Before getting his chance with NJPW as a regular due to his slim 160lb frame he was sent to the UK and Mexico. He built up his physique more while in Mexico and captured the NWA World Middleweight Championship in EMLL. He is the only wrestler to hold the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship and the WWF Junior Heavyweight Championship (which was defended in Japan almost exclusively despite the WWF name attached) simultaneously.
Sid Cooper was a popular heel in the UK and does a somewhat over the top selling for the man Bret Hart called “The Bruce Lee of wrestling” Sammy Lee, the first Tiger Mask!

Terry Funk vs Jerry Lawler
Thanks to @WoooLouie250 for sending me the link as this match I had missed. We have the final match between Terry Funk and Jerry Lawler from Jackson, Tennessee!
This match has been doing the rounds among various podcasts, blogs etc. as in 2015 we see Jerry Lawler and Terry Funk still waging war with fighting in the concession stands, brawling in the crowd and a very old school ending. I don’t think I need to say anything, just watch these two legends go at it one last time!

WWE Championship Match
Bob Backlund vs Big John Studd
A WWE Championship match now as Bob Backlund defends against the giant Big John Studd! Bob Backlund feuded with many different wrestlers in his first run as WWE Champion. He battled NWA Champion Harley Race, Ric Flair, Ken Patera, Hulk Hogan, Greg Valentine, Billy Graham and many others before losing to Iron Sheik via Arnold Skaaland throwing in the towel for the match to stop.
Big John Studd never held the WWE Championship. His biggest win was the 1989 Royal Rumble last eliminating Ted Dibiase then throwing Virgil out of the ring for good measure. He was part of the Heenan family and teamed with King Kong Bundy to feud with The Machines.
A dodgy finish to the match not uncommon for the time but an intriguing match nonetheless!

Number 1 Contender Grand Battle Royal
Concluding this week we have a Grand Battle Royal from Florida Championship Wrestling! The wrestlers have 30 seconds to get into the ring and keep as many others out before whoever is left in the ring battle under traditional battle royal rules. The talents that didn’t make it before the 30 seconds include Cesaro, Darren Young and current WWE Champion Seth Rollins! Left in the ring included Damien Sandow, Hunico, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns (Leakee), Bray Wyatt, Xavier Woods, Big E and Mike Dalton AKA Tyler Breeze among others.
Crazy but fun match and the vast majority are now on the main roster.
That concludes this week’s Scavenger Hunt! Feel free to send feedback or chat to myself or Erik on the @WrestlingChron or @HobosGhost twitter feeds! Would love to here from you. As seen here I am open to suggestions on what goes in and feel free to check out all the weekly Hunts still available for free at the link here. So many clips and so many more to find!
