HobosGhost’s Scavenger Hunt – Piper is a Cage Fighter!

Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of the Scavenger Hunt! Each week I compile some clips from the world of wrestling for you to take a look at. It is the good, the bad, and the ugly of wrestling history! Legendary matches, bizarre indie bouts, promos, commercials and everything else makes it in!

I am your host Simon Knowles AKA @HobosGhost on Twitter. Let’s begin!

21st February 2006
Mascarita Sagrada vs Tsuki

Kicking off with a match from WWE Velocity that I may have added before (the problems of a year and a half’s worth of Scavenger Hunts) as the short lived Juniors Division see Tzuki face Mascarita Sagrada! This Sagrada is the original who debuted in Mexico in 1989. El Torito from WWE was a later incarnation of the Sagrada persona and not featured in this match. It wasn’t the first time Mascarita had been in the WWE as he was Nova for a brief time appearing mostly on the WWE Super Astros TV show aimed at the Spanish audience. Tzuki was Max Mini in the late 90’s for WWE TV and PPV. As an added bit of confusion, the El Torito that appeared in 1998-1999 for WWE was Espectrito who was also Mini Vader and not the current bull outfit wearing talent in WWE.

Pure comedy match with even the ref joining in, if I have included it before it’s worthy including again!

17th October 2015
APW Women’s Championship Match
Mistress Belmont vs Ashley Vox

Returning to the Scavenger Hunt is the current APW Women’s Champion Mistress Belmont facing Ashley Vox! Mistress Belmont wrestles on the North East indie scene as is the current APW and NECW Women’s Champion and just recently lost her CW Title to Alexxis Nevaeh. She has also entered the fitness competition world.

Having before been APW’s Intergender Champion, Mistress Belmont is the first APW Women’s Champion. Ashley Vox tries but comes up short on this occasion against the champ!

25th November 1989
Roddy Piper Promo

Here is a quick yet crazy promo from the late “Rowdy” Roddy Piper in the build up to a steel cage match against “Ravishing” Rick Rude that took place at Madison Square Garden on 28th December 1989. They did have two steel cages matches at house shows just before the recorded event. Piper and Rude had been trading wins on the house show scene for months before the cage match. In the main event Piper defeated Rude to end the feud.

CW Women’s Championship Match
Alexxis vs Mercedes KV (Sasha Banks)

Here we have Sasha Banks from WWE in action back in 2011 challenging for the CW Women’s Championship! Alexxis Nevaeh is married to TNA star Eddie Edwards. She is in her second reign as CW Women’s Champion having won the title from Mistress Belmont on 17th October. She is also a former WSU Tag Team Champion. Sasha would go on to finally defeat Alexxis for the CW Title on 2nd December 2011 in an I Quit match at the CW Fan’s Appreciation event. Holding the title for 378 days, it was vacated after Mercedes joined WWE and became The Boss.

And Finally…

23rd May 1992
18 Man Mountain Mayhem Battle Royal Match

Finishing this week’s edition is an 18 man Royal Rumble style match from Smokey Mountain Wrestling! Featuring stars such as Paul Orndorff, Rip Rogers, Tom Pritchard, Stan Lane and Buddy Landell it’s an old school style of match with the faces only fighting the heels for the most part. The winner wins $5000 and it’s not without it’s controversy with the ending.

18 men sit at ringside waiting for their chance to win the cash at SMW!

That concludes this week’s Scavenger Hunt exclusive to TWC. Plenty more past hunts available here as well as the Piledriver Podcast, Match Of The Day and loads more!

Feel free to message Erik or myself on Twitter even to say hi!

Until next time it’s so long folks.
