Hello there, Wrestling Chronicle readers! Angie here with your weekly NXT Recap. Like the main roster, the NXT Superstars are gearing up for their own road to Wrestlemania Weekend at NXT Takeover: Dallas. Let’s see what they have in store for us tonight.

The Vaudevillians defeated Hugo Knox and Tucker Knight
The Vaudevillians continue their somewhat hot streak and showing off their new attitude. Tucker Knight and Hugo Knox showed fight but not enough as Gotch and English hit the Whirling Dervish for the victory. I don’t know what the future is for The Vaudevillians since The tag champs, The Revival (Dash and Dawson), Enzo and Big Cass, and American Alpha are all on top of the tag division. They do bring a unique vibe to the division, I guess.
** An NXT Tag Team Title match is announced as The Revival, Dash and Dawson will defend their titles against Enzo Amore and Big Cass at WWE: Roadblock on March 12th. As the lone NXT match for this event, I can see Enzo and Cass pulling an upset ala Finn Balor defeating Kevin Owens at Beast in the East in Japan. It’s going to be fun road to Wrestlemania and NXT Takeover: Dallas**
Emma defeated Santana Garrett
Every week I ask myself why Emma is still in NXT. I know she’s doing well as a heel and confidant to Dana Brooke, but seeing the lack of face Divas in the main roster, she’ll fit in perfectly in that mix. But seeing some new woman coming up to NXT, I assume Emma’s veteran presence is worth the stay. Santana Garrett didn’t disappoint and showed charisma in the ring but Emma applied the Emma lock for the victory.
After the break, William Regal is in the ring ready to announce NXT’s next acquisition. It is none other than former star of TNA and ROH, Austin Aries. He didn’t make it to the ring because known Indie hater, Baron Corbin attacks him from behind. He hit Aries with End of Days and throws his t-shirt at Regal “AN EYE FOR AN EYE”. I’m guessing he’s still pretty pissed off he isn’t the number one contender? Just a hunch. I expect a match between Corbin and Aries down the line.
Elias Samson defeated Steve Cutler
Cutler had no shot but it’s nice to see some fresh NXT faces this week. Samson hit a flying knee, played a little air guitar, and hit his neck breaker finisher for the win. I can’t say I’m a fan of Elias Samson. We’ve seen superstars who are “loners”. I don’t think a guitar makes a difference.
Main Event: NXT Champ Finn Balor defeats Former NXT Champ Neville
Great all around match. Finn Balor had a heel vibe towards the beginning as he was making his way towards the ring. Before match got started, Tom Philips mentioned The Bullet Club and that Finn Balor’s pals are soon coming to NXT. And in true Cory Graves fashion, he told us to stop being nerds and believing in everything you read on the internet. It was weird hearing The Bullet Club being name dropped on WWE/NXT TV. Now to the match. Flips, reversals, high flying, you name it, the match had it. The ending was great as the two exchanged Pele kicks and enziguris. As Neville was setting up for Red Arrow, Finn Balor got out the way and hit the sling blade, running dropkick. That turned into the Coup de Grace and the Bloody Sunday for the victory. The two exchanged a handshake at the end. I assume as Neville went back stage, he was sobbing at the fact he has to go back to being under used in the main roster.
The show ends with Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn being interviewed to set up their 2 out of 3 falls match next week to determine a # 1 Contender for the NXT title. So that’s 2 big matches for next week’s show. This and Bayley and Asuka vs Nia Jax and Eva Marie.
