The show kicked off with Seth Rollins calling out the alter ego of Finn Balor, the Demon King. Inside the arena Rusev and Lana hold the show hostage until Roman Reigns apologizes for sabotaging their wedding celebration. Their demands draw out GM Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon. Foley says he understands Rusev’s need to defend the honor of his wife so tonight he will give him the opportunity to do so in a one on one match with Reigns. Alright now…
Sheamus and Sami had a very physical match. Isn’t it weird Sami Zayn doesn’t have a match so far on this year’s SummerSlam?
Foley has booked a “Best of 7” between Sheamus and Cesaro beginning at SummerSlam. Wow, that should really be a fun series of matches.
Brock Lesnar made an appearance but before Heyman could do his usual sales pitch for a PPV he gets interrupted by…..Heath Slater. Basically Slater is a man that has to do what he has to do for his kids, however many of them there are. Brock baits Slater in the ring under the guise of understanding when in fact he doesn’t, and I quote, “give a sh*t about [Heath’s] kids.” He then kills Heath. Paul then does his sales pitch but I didn’t hear a word of it because I was amazed that sequence actually happened and it was amazing.
Big Cass vs. Kevin Owens ended in a DQ when Jericho attacked Cass on the outside.
The PrimeTime Players reunion didn’t last very long as Titus hit Darren with the Clash of the Titus due to a miscommunication.
Neville defeated Jinder Mahal.
Seth Rollins went to the ring to call out the “Demon King” Finn Balor and he got exactly that. Balor comes out in full demon regalia to the tune of holy sh*t chants from the crowd. Many (and I do mean many) of the audience hated the idea of debuting the Demon King persona a week early. I get it but I don’t hate the move. I’m a huge fan of dark imagery based characters so of course I love the Demon King.
Gallows and Anderson defeated the Golden Truth. After the match the New Day attacked Gallows and Anderson. Xavier looked to use Francesca II to take out Anderson’s jewels but luckily he was pulled out of harm’s way.
Charlotte defeated Alicia Fox. After the match Dana Brooke distracted Sasha Banks who made her way from commentary to the ring. Charlotte locks on the Figure 8 then exits to the crowd chanting Charlotte Sucks.
