Brock Lesnar

Raw Recap – 11/14/16

Tonight is the final Raw before an historic Survivor Series which will feature a faceoff between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar, while the General Managers and Commissioners of Raw and SmackDown Live collide under one roof!

Raw GM Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon are in the ring with the entire Raw roster standing at the top of the stage. Tonight is all about the Raw roster coming together as a unit to show they are the better brand. Tons of huge matches for tonight starting with some tag team action.

Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns vs. Cesaro and Sheamus

Which team of enemies will implode first? Roman Reigns was all about getting a W for his team but Kevin Owens would not put his pride aside. When Owens was in the ring he refused to tag Roman in only up until the action was too much for Kevin to handle. When Roman looked as though he had things in hand, ready to bring home a win, Owens tags himself in. Owens and Reigns get into a verbal spat that allows Sheamus to land a Brogue Kick to Owens. Roman hits Sheamus with a Spear then drags Owens, who is the legal man, to Sheamus to get the three count. So I guess Roman stayed to his plan?

Chris Jericho was nice enough to get Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins some scarves to show some team unity. Rollins really isn’t a scarf guy and Strowman was more interested in Jericho’s scarf. Why you ask? Well he just wanted to rip it up into pieces.

Bo Dallas vs. Sami Zayn

I’m really enjoying a more aggressive Bo Dallas and I feel if the Creative Team spent some time they could develop a great purpose for it. The match was pretty basic with Sami winning with the Helluva Kick. Really looking forward to his Survivor Series match.

Brian Kendrick got the whole Cruiserweight Division to reassure them that he will be retaining the Cruiserweight Championship against Kalisto making sure the Division stays on Raw and not going to SmackDown Live. Needless to say no one was confident in Kendrick retaining. One person in particular who isn’t confident in Kendrick would be Sin Cara, the former partner of Kalisto. I’m sure these two will be in action later.

The New Day vs. Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, and Braun Strowman

Absolutely loved the beginning of this match. Jericho and Kingston showed of the veteran experience and the sequences between Rollins and Woods left me with my mouth open in amazement. Before the break Strowman came in and destroyed Kofi. Coming back and the match is complete chaos. Strowman absolutely smashes Kofi and Big E on the outside. Rollins looks like he’s going for the kill with The Pedigree but Jericho tags himself in. He’s unable to secure the win but passes Woods off to Strowman who buries Woods with a running powerslam. Really fun match.

Paul Heyman has a quick visit with Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon to talk Goldberg/Lesnar. Charlotte and Sasha Banks get into an argument in the locker room.

Brian Kendrick vs. Sin Cara

Kendrick attacked Sin Cara before the bell. Afterward Kendrick worked a very slow, methodically paced match. Sin Cara tried mounting some offense but it was short lived. This match is so slow. Awkward collision in the corner killed the match. Kendrick rearranges the mask temporarily blinding Sin Cara. Kendrick locks in his choke submission and gets the win.

Security cut the ring in half preparing for the Lesnar/Goldberg confrontation. Heyman was doing his usual PPV selling but kept making the mistake of mentioning Goldberg’s family. Goldberg threatened if he did again Goldberg would rip Heyman’s head off of his shoulders and feed it to Brock. Despite the warning Heyman pushed the buttons of Goldberg a little too much. Icing on the cake was Heyman saying Goldberg’s son would end up calling Brock “Daddy” by the end of Survivor Series. Goldberg snaps and completely destroys the security. Lesnar bluffs as if he was willing to stand toe to toe with Goldberg right there but thinks and exits ringside.

Charlotte and Sasha Banks vs. Alicia Fox and Nia Jax

Despite coming to actual blows during the match, Sasha and Charlotte figure out a way to beat Nia and Alicia. Either way it looks like the Raw Women’s Team has the edge with the powerhouse Nia Jax on their team.

Enzo, Big Cass, Gallows, and Anderson vs. The Shining Stars and The Golden Truth

Gallows and Anderson put aside their differences with Big Cass and Enzo and all four men looked like a unit throughout this match. Golden Truth and Shining Stars were the complete opposite however. Gallows and Anderson hit the Magic Killer and look to have Enzo dive off the top rope for good measure. Just as Enzo is about to take off Gallows takes the pin and gets the win. An obvious fast one on Enzo and Cass.

To close out tonight’s Raw Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley were joined by SmackDown Live GM and Commissioner Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan. Each person went back and forth with points as to why their brand was going to come out on top at the end of Survivor Series. Stephanie calls out all five members of the Raw team. Have no fear the SD Live team is waiting in the crowd. Soon enough both teams are standing nose to nose in the ring. AJ Styles and Kevin Owens had a great back and forth making points as to which World Title is more prestigious. Bray Wyatt confronted his former protege Braun Strowman which lead to a face to face between Orton and Strowman. Rollins tries to be the voice reason by pointing out the caliber of talent on the Raw team. Dean Ambrose? Well he just starts a brawl by hitting Jericho over the head with a microphone. Excellent back and forth brawl that ends with Rollins and Reigns hoisting up AJ Styles for a classic Shield powerbomb. This one happens to end with Styles being powerbombed into his entire team. In the end, Raw stands tall. Definitely helped get me invested in Survivor Series.
