NXT Recap – 11/30/16

Tonight NXT takes place in Ottawa!

Asuka vs. Nicole Matthews

Coming off her huge win at TakeOver:Toronto, Asuka makes quick work of Nicole Matthews. I love when people think they can just stiff Asuka and all that does is make her hit back harder. Who in the world is going to be able to stop her?

Samoa Joe gives his thoughts on facing Shinsuke Nakamura in a rematch for the NXT Championship in Osaka, Japan. Joe seems to think Shinsuke is not on his level. The interview is interrupted by Tye Dillinger who would like an opportunity to face Joe tonight. Joe denies his request so what does Dillinger do? He smacks Joe in the face. Hard. Oh my God is Joe mad.

No Way Jose vs. Eric Young

Jose really holding is own for the beginning portion of the match. Definitely has Young stunned. Young gets an upper hand thanks in part to Alexander Wolfe distracting Jose on the outside. From then on it was a focused ground and pound attack from Eric Young. Jose fights back and hits Eric with a big clothesline for a two count. Wolfe tries another distraction but gets punched in the mouth. Jose hits Young with a pop up punch but the referee is distracted with Sawyer Fulton and Nikki Cross. Jose gets hit from behind while getting the referee then hit with Eric Young’s wheelbarrow neckbreaker. Young gets the win. After the match Nikki Cross goes back to the ring and hits No Way Jose with a Missile Dropkick.

The new Tag Team Champs DIY will be on NXT next week. Asuka says her attitude hasn’t changed, there’s just no competition left in NXT.

Samoa Joe vs. Tye Dillinger

Non Title match. On the way to the ring Dillinger says that if he can’t beat Samoa Joe then maybe he doesn’t belong in NXT. Much like the match previously the man you wouldn’t expect to gain the upper hand, in this case Dillinger, has his opponent Samoa Joe stunned on the outside needing a breather. Joe gets the momentum finally in his favor by attacking Dillinger’s knee. Joe has him in a kneebar but Dillinger is able to get to the ropes. Joe having complete control of this match is not good for Dillinger. The two men get into a slap fest and when Dillinger comes off the ropes he gets hit with a wicked powerslam. Joe back to stalking Dillinger like prey and working his damaged knee. Dillinger has an opportunity to mount a comeback having Samoa Joe on the ground. Dillinger attempts a Tye Breaker but his knee gives out. Joe tries hitting Dillinger with a Dragon Suplex after a German Suplex but Dillinger fights out. Dillinger hits Joe with a superkick. Joe attempts another Tye Breaker but Joe fights out and retreats to the corner. Dillinger runs in but gets planted with a Uranage. From then on Joe hits Dillinger with a powerbomb, transitions into the high angle Boston Crab, then into a Crossface, then into a Coquina Clutch. Dillinger passes out and the referee calls for the bell. The transition work into the various submissions was some of the coolest stuff I’ve seen from someone not named Zack Sabre Jr.

NXT closes with the crowd chanting 10 for Tye who waves goodbye. What’s next for The Perfect 10?
