Brock Lesnar

Raw Recap – 6/12/17; Lesnar and Joe Face Off!

Sheamus and Cesaro defend the Tag Team Titles against The Hardyz in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match and Brock Lesnar returns tonight!
He’s back! Raw kicks off with the Universal Champion (remember that thing?) Brock Lesnar. Paul Heyman gets on the microphone and talks about Joe’s Samoan heritage, calling him a punk and dog because no other Samoan in the industry wants anything to do with Joe. He then talks about what it was like to be put in the Coquina Clutch. Heyman says he was scared the same thing would happen to Lesnar but then realized that there was no way Lesnar would allow that to happen. Samoa Joe comes down to the ring and gets in the face of Lesnar. Joe hits Lesnar with a headbutt and it is on! GM Kurt Angle sends security out but they get demolished by Lesnar. Angle then empties out the locker room to pull apart both men as we go to break. This is exactly the way I would have this angle start off and they did an amazing job.

Elias Sampson welcomes us back from break with a song about Cajun Country. Thankfully Sampson is interrupted by Dean Ambrose.
Dean Ambrose vs. Elias Sampson
Ambrose starts the match off hot catching Sampson off guard causing him to head outside for a time out. Back from break with Sampson catching Ambrose with a vicious clothesline. Sampson keeps Ambrose down with a chin lock. Ambrose fights out and both men have a back and forth chop exchange. Ambrose gets the better of the exchange and finishes it off with a suicide dive. Ambrose blocks a super-plex when suddenly The Miz shows up distracting Ambrose. Miz uses Maryse when Ambrose tried to get his hands on him which almost caused Ambrose to almost get counted out. When Ambrose gets back in the ring at the count of nine Sampson hits him with a knee to the back of his head. Sampson then hits a reverse rolling neckbreaker and gets the win. Great match, Sampson is really aggressive in the ring. I hope we continue to see him, just not his singing.
Goldust delivers another classic Shattered Dreams vignette.
The Miz is confronted by GM Kurt Angle who is furious at Miz for getting involved in the last match. Miz brings up Kurt Angle’s personal problems and thinks Ambrose should be punished for ruining Miz’s Comeback Tour deal. Angle doesn’t take too kindly being spoken to in this manner and says if Miz has an issue with Ambrose he can take care of it himself.
Noam Dar versus Cedric Alexander was a completely pointless segment featuring an injured Alicia Fox on FaceTime the entire time. Maybe its just me but I feel like the reason 205 Live and the Cruiserweight division has not taken off is that WWE does things like this completely takes the focus off the action, the thing that has always made the Cruiserweights popular in wrestling.
Roman Reigns will deliver a SummerSlam announcement next week.
Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins have a face-off of sorts. Bray isn’t happy with Seth throwing dirt on his name, he calls it blasphemy. It’s the typical Bray Wyatt stuff no one can buy into because he is constantly put in these great scenarios he ultimately loses. Bray has no momentum, nothing to buy into.

Apollo Crews vs. Kalisto

The Miz has a proposal for Heath Slater, join his entourage and go from feeding cheese wiz to Rhyno to eating caviar with The Miz. Slater likes the idea of going up against The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship instead to which Miz says he can make that happen, someday. Rhyno takes exception with The Miz trying to steal Heath from him. Rhyno tells Miz he’s going to Angle to set up a tag match for later.
Alexa Bliss’ mouth has gotten in a lot of trouble with just about everyone in the Raw Women’s Division. Everyone wants a shot and are tired of Bliss ducking them.
Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, and Emma vs. Sasha Banks, Dana Brooke, and Mickie James

A fun quick match which saw Sasha win for her team with the Banks Statement.
Corey Graves conducts a sit-down interview with former Women’s Champion Bayley to get her feelings since losing the Kendo Stick on a Pole Match at Extreme Rules. Bayley cuts the most white meat face promo I’ve ever heard. Saying she is not here to put bruises on anyone but smiles on people’s faces. She once again brings up that childhood dream of being the best and ends the interview with giving Graves a super awkward hug.
Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. The Miz and ?

A bear. It’s a bear. Somehow the bear was a jobber that turned into Dean Ambrose. The bear causes Miz to run into Maryse and knock her off the apron. Ambrose the Bear hits Miz with Dirty Deeds and has Slater take the cover for the win. Wow.
Neville vs. Rich Swann

Neville attacks Swann while he was dancing and goes to work. The bell doesn’t even ring and Neville locks on the Rings of Saturn. Neville gets on the mic and sends a warning to Akira Tozawa.

Someone keeps beating up Big Cass.

Gallows and Anderson vs. Enzo and Big Cass

Despite not being able to stay balanced on his feet Cass is taking the fight to Anderson until the attack is too much to overcome. Enzo gets in and tries his hardest but falls to Magic Killer from Gallows and Anderson and losing the match. Gallows and Anderson attempt another Magic Killer but the Big Show comes down and sends them running. Show helps Enzo to his feet as Cass comes to. Looks like Cass is a little jealous of Enzo and Big Show’s friendship.

Enzo catches up with Big Show backstage and says for peace of mind he needs to know if Big Show attacked Cass. Big Show takes offense but feels this is all coming from Cass. Big Show has one word to describe Cass, S-A-W-F-T. Wow.

Main Event: Sheamus and Cesaro (c) vs. The Hardyz – 2 out of 3 Falls for the Raw Tag Team Championship

The first fall comes super quick, about four minutes in when Sheamus catches Jeff with a Brogue Kick in the sternum while Jeff was in a handstand position in the corner. Back from break with Sheamus working Jeff over good. Jeff rebounds briefly and gets the hot tag to brother Matt while Cesaro tags in. Matt comes in super hot cleaning house firing on all cylinders. Matt hits Twist of Fate on Cesaro and gets the pin. We are tied, one fall a piece. Cesaro halts Matt’s momentum with a wicked uppercut. Sheamus hits Matt with a bicycle knee. After a Sharpshooter Matt somehow is able to get the tag to Jeff who comes in hot. Two near falls and this thing starts to go crazy. Sheamus/Jeff in the ring while Cesaro destroys Matt outside. Jeff hits a Swanton on Sheamus but Cesaro pulls his partner out! All four men brawl outside while the referee begins his count of ten. No one answers the count resulting in a double count out and a tie. Both teams keep brawling ending with a big splash to the outside from Jeff Hardy. Good match and the ending made me want to see another match between these two teams.
