That’s right, 205 Live has made it to 100 episodes. Let’s see what this week has in store for us!
Lince Dorado vs. Mike Kanellis: Great back and forth match. I’m happy to see Kanellis getting a chance to show what he can do in the ring for a bigger audience. Kanellis kept things on the ground while Dorado used his speed and high flying. Maria Kanellis tried to cause a distraction but it didn’t really lead anywhere. Dorado landed his beautiful Shooting Star Press but Kanellis got his foot on the rope before the referee’s count of three. Kanellis goes to the outside and shoves the other members of the Lucha House Party to the ground. Dorado comes to their defense with a hurricanrana off the apron. Dorado rolls Kanellis back in the ring but while he is entering himself, Kanellis grabs the top rope and slingshots it in the face of Dorado. Kanellis lands a Spinning Reverse DDT for the win.
205 Live GM Drake Maverick announces next week there will be a match to determine who will face Champion Buddy Murphy for the Cruiserweight Championship.
Also next week, The Brian Kendrick looks to get revenge on his former partner Jack Gallagher for turning on him alongside Drew Gulak last week.
Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy vouches for his friend Tony Nese who says it doesn’t matter if Buddy holds the title or he does, it’s a new era for 205 Live.
Mustafa Ali vs. Hideo Itami (Falls Count Anywhere): I feel like Itami is finally finding his way on 205 Live. His promos have gotten way better, the whole “respect me” attitude fits well as it doesn’t ignore his illustrious career, and he can be pretty physical which is definitely his style. This feud with Ali is without question the best stuff Itami has done since coming to the WWE. Ali is described as the heart and soul of 205 Live and that is not just some tagline. I haven’t read the WWE.com list of the best 205 Live matches but I do know two things: Ali vs. Murphy’s No Holds Barred match is #1 and that can’t be the only Mustafa Ali matches on the list. All this guy does is have quality matches. This match was everything described above from both men. Itami’s strikes were bone jarring but Ali never quit. By the closing moments of this one, both men were covered in bruises and welts. I like how this was basically a No DQ match but the usage of weapons was kept at a minimum. Ali and Itami just went out there and created a Hardcore match with their bodies. When a weapon was brought out Ali made sure to make it count. Ali sets up a table and has Itami in perfect position. Ali hits a 450 Splash with a picture-perfect crash through the table. Mustafa Ali gets the three count and even in victory against a bonafide rival, he remains humble mouthing, “I always respected you.” in the direction of Itami. Great main event. That type of storytelling makes 205 Live such a great show.
