We are just four days away from WWE Crown Jewel! Raw comes to us live from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC.
Raw kicks off with Baron Corbin in the ring holding the vacant Universal Championship. Corbin actually thinks the title looks good on him and hope when Roman returns he goes to SmackDown instead. Suddenly Brock Lesnar comes out with his advocate Paul Heyman. The reason for Brock’s surprise attendance is to obviously promote the big match at Crown Jewel and give what Heyman calls his typical spoiler alert. Brock’s opponent at Crown Jewel Braun Strowman comes down to the ring and lets Lesnar know at Crown Jewel he will “Get these hands”. Corbin tries to diffuse the situation and gets mushed in the face by Strowman. Corbin goes to attack Strowman and gets a power slam. The crowd chants for one more in which Strowman obliges. Braun turns right into an F-5. Lesnar looks like the one with the last laugh but Strowman is already on his feet.
Finn Balor vs. Bobby Lashley: Lio Rush cuts this extremely long-winded promo before the match begins. Lashley dominates the beginning using his power but before we head to break Balor is the one on offense after a topè. When we come back from commercial break Lashley is back on top with Lio Rush’s voice screeching in the background. Lashley stays on offense for quite some time until Balor finally finds an opening. Balor almost had the match won going for the Coupe de Grace until Lio Rush knocks Balor off the top rope causing a disqualification.
After the bell Lashley beats Balor down then holds him so Lio can slap Balor in the face.
Lashley and Rush meet up with Baron Corbin the Trainer’s Room. Thanks to Lashley’s beat down on Balor Corbin awards Lashley John Cena’s spot in the World Cup Tournament at Crown Jewel.
Stop the presses. At this year’s Survivor Series the Raw women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will face SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.
Lita, Trish Stratus, Natalya, Sasha Banks, and Bayley vs. Mickie James, Alicia Fox, and the Riott Squad: The beginning saw the face team take control before a commercial break. We come back from break still on top. Alicia is finally able to get things in her favor thanks to a distraction from Mickie James who gets tagged in. Banks getting worked over good while her opponents do a great job of keeping Sasha in their corner. Natalya finally gets the hot tag and cleans house. From there is a showcase for the good guys ending with a Heart Attack combo from Nattie and Lita and Fox tapping to the Sharpshooter. Pretty good match.
A word from the 2018 Evolution Battle Royale winner Nia Jax who expects Ronda to beat Becky to win and face her. We then get a word from Ember Moon who had a pretty good showing herself last night. Nia seemed a little annoyed to be sharing the spotlight with Ember. Even though she may not think it’s true, Ember has so much respect and thanks Nia for her guidance since coming to Raw that she would like to face her in a match tonight.
Elias had a song for Barin Corbin but while he was singing it for Corbin Elias was attacked by Jinder Mahal.
When we get back from break Mahal and Elias are in the ring for a match. It wasn’t anything noteworthy, Jinder dominates the beginning of the match but gets caught with a Drift Away from Elias and gets the win.
Kurt Angle takes on Dolph Ziggler in the First Round of the World Cup Tournament at Crown Jewel.
The Ascension vs. Bobby Roode and Chad Gable vs. AOP: As soon as the bell rang AOP became the target of the other teams who quickly took AOP out before a commercial break. After the break, we get a quick sprint to the finish. Roode gets a blind tag on Gable who hits Viktor with a roll through high angle German Suplex with Roode coming down with a neck-breaker on impact. Roode pins Viktor and gets the win, with little reaction from the crowd. With Dean and Seth winning the Tag Titles last week but Dean turning on Seth you have to wonder if Roode and Gable are putting themselves in a spot to take said titles.
After the match, AOP decimates everyone in the ring.
Seth comes down to the ring obviously looking for answers as to why Dean Ambrose would attack him after winning the Tag Team Titles on such an emotional night. Seth calls Dean out but Dean’s music plays to no Dean. Suddenly in the crowd, Dean Ambrose appears. Dean has a microphone but doesn’t say anything. A frustrated Rollins vows to make Dean’s life a living hell. Since Dean doesn’t want to come down to the ring and give an explanation Seth is just going to go up there and beat one out of him. Dean disappears before Seth can get to him.
Nia Jax vs. Ember Moon: Nia was in control of the match when Ember ducked a running Nia sending her shoulder first into the corner post. Ember hits a flipping senton on Nia on the outside. Both women get back in the ring when Tamina comes out to the stage. Nia and Ember stand in the ring in confusion. Nia strikes Ember while she is distracted then crushes her with a leg drop for the win.
Lucha House Party vs. The Revival: Interesting but great to see Lucha House Party on Raw. The Revival underestimated them because they’re smaller but it comes back to bite them as Kalisto hits the Salida del Sol out of nowhere. Lucha House Party gets the win on their Raw debut.
Dolph Ziggler def. Apollo Crews with a Zig Zag.
To close out tonight’s Raw the Brothers of Destruction come down to the ring to talk about their match with DX at WWE Crown Jewel. Undertaker says that DX is in for slow, agonizing pain because when the Reaper calls it is your end no matter how hard you fight. DX’s music hits but only Triple H comes out. Kane exits the ring I’m guessing to go after Triple H but this leaves Undertaker open for a surprise Sweet Chin Music in the ring from Shawn Michaels. HBK gets out of the ring before Kane could get his hands on him and make their way up the ramp. DX is pleased with their work until Undertaker does his patented sit up and looks DX dead in the eye. DX stares in shock as we go off the air.
