Raw Recap – 11/19/18

Less than 24 hours removed from an epic Survivor Series, how will Raw celebrate their clean sweep?

Acting Raw GM Baron Corbin is out to introduce the Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon. The Commissioner is out to float about Raw’s clean sweep obviously but Raw GM is actually looking to cash in on a promise Stephanie made to Corbin, The Acting GM would like to remove the acting part of his title. Braun Strowman comes down to the ring also looking to cash in on a Stephanie promise. She makes it official, Braun vs. Corbin will happen at TLC and Braun is given choice of stipulation to be worked out later. If Baron Corbin wins, he will be promoted to permanent GM. If Corbin loses, he loses all authority. If Strowman wins, he gets a Universal Championship opportunity against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble. Braun decides that the match at TLC will be an actual TLC Match. Baron Corbin thinks he can come out on top by weakening Strowman before TLC. Corbin wants to put Braun in a Handicap Match but Stephanie has other ideas. Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin will face Elias, Braun Strowman, and Finn Balor in an Elimination Match RIGHT NOW!

Braun Strowman, Elias, and Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, and Drew McIntyre: It looked as though Corbin was going to start the match versus Strowman but Corbin opts for Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Terminator was holding his own till he’s stopped by the brick wall of Strowman. The crowd wants Strowman and they get him except he can’t hold is own against McIntyre who beats him down on the outside. Back from commercial break and McIntyre is still dominating Balor. It is then Corbin wants in on the action. Now all three men are working to keep Balor isolated. Quick tags for Team Corbin. They are doing a great job keeping Balor from tagging out. Lashley just beating Balor down with his power. Balor finds an opening after a basement dropkick. Balor gets the Tag to Elias who comes in like he’s on fire. When Elias was in trouble Balor tags back in for backup. Balor has Lashley in position for a Coupe de Grace but while the referee is distracted Balor is knocked off by McIntyre. Drew tags himself in and hits the Claymore Kick on Balor to eliminate him. Back from another break and Team Corbin is working over Elias with Quick tag work. Elias tried to fight back but Drew stops him dead in his tracks with a Lariat. Lashley in for his team to continue their dominance. Corbin in now and Elias keeps trying to fight back. On the outside, Lashley takes Strowman off the apron. Elias finds an opening after a jumping knee strike and when he realizes he has no teammate to Tag he goes to the top for an elbow. Bobby Lashley breaks up the pin attempt. Lio Rush begins to mock Elias from ringside and Elias chases him down. Lashley saves his hype man by spearing Elias into oblivion. Elias is unable to answer the referee’s count of ten and is eliminated from the match. Strowman is all alone but I really don’t think that’s a problem. Back from another commercial break and surprisingly Strowman is getting dominated in the ring. Corbin in the ring beating down Strowman. Suddenly Strowman wakes up and begins to wreck anyone that moves. Strowman drops Corbin with a Powerslam but before he could get a three Drew McIntyre whacks Strowman with a chair. McIntyre is eliminated due to disqualification but neither Lashley or McIntyre care. Both men beat Strowman down on the outside. Corbin got a little too cocky but before he could pay for it McIntyre drops Strowman with a Claymore Kick. All three men continue to beat Braun down. They hold down Braun’s arm using Corbin’s belt and they smash his elbow with the ring steps. Braun is in a state we’ve never seen him in before, writhing on the floor in pain.

Seth Rollins is out to discuss his upcoming match against his former Shield brother Dean Ambrose. Dean Ambrose doesn’t come down to the ring but baits Rollins to find him. According to Dean, The Shield will have to pay for what they’ve done. Seth is on a search and takes out security in the process.

Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Tamina Snuka and Nia Jax: Sasha and Bayley Team up early to beat down Nia. The strategy worked briefly before Nia uses her power to come back. Tamina tags in but she’s not able to continue the dominance Nia did. Bayley is on offense then we get a stalemate before a commercial break. Back from break with Banks chopping Nia down but it doesn’t last long thanks to the fluidity of Nia and Tamina. Sasha is being kept grounded unable to get to Bayley. Sasha finds an opening and gets the tag to Bayley. The hot tag was useless as Tamina stops Bayley dead with a Superkick. Tamina gets too cocky allowing Bayley space to go back on offense. There’s a struggle where Bayley briefly impedes the view of the referee allowing Nia to deck Bayley. Nia comes in the match and Bayley tries to keep the fight going to Nia. However, the cohesiveness of Nia and Tamina is too much to overcome. Nia brings Bayley off the top and plants her with a Samoan Drop for the win.

Backstage Charly Caruso is preparing to conduct an interview when she is interrupted by Dean Ambrose who’s on the screen. Ambrose has a message for Rollins, to find him where The Shield used to call home. Rollins goes on the hunt but can’t find Ambrose.

In catering everyone is making fun of Drake Maverick for peeing himself last night on Survivor Series.

Lucha House Party vs. The Revival: Apparently this match is under Lucha rules which means all three members of Lucha House Party are in the match. Basically a Handicap Match. The Revival gave it a valiant effort despite the circumstances but come up short thanks to a Shooting Star Press from Lince Dorado.

Ronda Rousey comes down to the ring and makes no bones about the beating she took at the hands of Charlotte Flair. Ronda wants to make it known that she does not quit after getting beat down. She will be ready for Nia Jax at TLC and her beef with Charlotte is far from over. Ronda wants to defend her title tonight. Raw GM Baron Corbin denied the request but when Ronda got in the face of Corbin he lets her know she’s going to lose the title.

Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Mickie James – Raw Women’s Championship: Rousey is definitely not 100% which allows Mickie to get a good amount of offense in. Still, the Champion is too much to take down as she drops Mickie with two Pipers Pit finishers then gets Mickie to tap to an armbar.

On the stage, Ronda is confronted by Nia and Tamina but no blows were thrown.

AOP vs. Chad Gable and Bobby Roode: AOP dominate Gable in the early goings of the match. Gable finds an opening after side-stepping Rezar and gets the tag to Roode who cleans house. Roode holds his own against AOP. Gable gets the tag while Roode spills to the outside. Chad rolls up Akam and gets the surprise win.

Ambrose continues to play hide and seek mind games with Rollins. Ambrose says when Rollins eventually finds him, he will burn it down.

Natalya vs. Ruby Riott: Early on Natalya was in control on offense. Ruby found the opening she needed thanks to a distraction from Liv Morgan and Sarah Morgan. Back from break with Ruby in control but Natalya gets a breather after using her power to drop Ruby. Natalya once again snaps on Ruby but this time Ruby lands a strike in retaliation. Riott heads to the second rope and lands her stage dive Senton for two. Riott goes to capitalize but Natalya is ready for her. Sarah Logan gets on the apron for a distraction and gets decked by Natalya. While the referee was dealing with Logan, Liv tries to distract Natalya who doesn’t fall for it. Natalya side steps Ruby and locks her in the Sharpshooter. Liv quickly pulls Ruby out before the referee could even see what was going on. Natalya takes out Liv with a dropkick. Ruby comes from behind with a roll up. Natalya switches the roll up and gets the pin. Good for Natalya to get that revenge.

Word on the condition of Braun Strowman is he has a shattered elbow.

Dean Ambrose is still in the arena and he’ll be in the ring after the commercial break.

Dean Ambrose comes down to the ring to trash the audience, the citizens of Los Angeles. It looks like Seth Rollins claiming he was leaving the arena was a trick. Rollins comes sprinting back into the arena and sprints to the ring, eyes locked on his target Ambrose. Rollins beats Ambrose down with Ambrose trying to get away. Ambrose tries to escape through the crowd but doesn’t get far. Rollins brings Ambrose back into the ring and decks him with a Superkick. Rollins goes for the Curbstomp but Ambrose ducks it and hits Rollins with a low blow full force. Ambrose escapes on top as Raw closes.

I don’t think tonight’s Raw was particularly bad but maybe a clean sweep at Survivor Series didn’t help Raw come off as interesting. Having Ronda come out and beat Mickie James in a Championship match totally negates the beating she got the night before. I will say I did enjoy the ending with Seth beating down Ambrose. I feel like this go round the rivalry will be better than the years before.
