Match Review – WALTER (c) vs. Will Ospreay for the OTT Championship [OTT Fourth Anniversary]

WALTER surprised the fans of OTT when he defeated former Champion Jordan Devlin. How will the Austrian Ring General combat The Aerial Assassin?

There is a fantastic video package chronicling WALTER’s path to the OTT Championship and Ospreay’s desire to not only defeat WALTER for the Championship but to walk into the Tokyo Dome for Wrestle Kingdom 13 as OTT Champion.

Will Ospreay is known as one of, if not the best high flyers in all of professional wrestling. Ospreay has wrestled all across the globe all the while making New Japan Pro Wrestling his premiere home base. A former two-time IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion, Ospreay says in order for WALTER to defeat him, he’s going to have to kill him.

I’ve written about WALTER in the past and no matter how many times I write about him I’m still in awe of his presence and what he is capable of doing in the ring. What WALTER is able to do in the ring should not be taken lightly. WALTER in the ring is 1000% brutality. Cold, emotionless, unforgiving, brutality. WALTER not only uses his 6’4″310-pound frame to his advantage, but he does also so with the intent of incapacitating his opponent, at all cost.

I’ve really enjoyed seeing Will Ospreay evolve as a pro wrestler. Fans have seen his gravity-defying, high flying offense before but this match showed a more strategic Ospreay. He attacked the legs of WALTER and really tried to chop the big man down to his size. Of course, no matter what you do to a man that size he still is going to be able to get his licks in and boy did he ever. Watching WALTER inflict damage on Ospreay hurts me just watching so I can’t imagine the pain he felt waking up the next morning.

I especially enjoyed the spot of the match where Ospreay gets his foot on the rope before a three count but WALTER thought he won the match. The passion from the fans showed that they were all in Ospreay’s favor and the intensity of the match was at an all-time high. A great big vs. small man match, this was a fantastic watch.

Over the Top Wrestling is based out of Dublin, Ireland and has been in operation since 2014. OTT features some of the top UK performers such as Jordan Devlin, Trent Seven, Tyler Bate, and Pete Dunne, some of the top performers from NJPW such as Minoru Suzuki, EVIL, Juice Robinson, and Kushida, and US-based performers such as Matt Sydal, Moose, Veda Scott, and LOW-KI.

OTT has their own streaming service, OTT on Demand, where you can check out some of their past shows. It is well worth the purchase as OTT provides quality wrestling.
