Hangman Page and Kenny Omega (c) vs. The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall) – Tag Team Championships: The show kicked off with Hangman Page and Kenny Omega defending their Tag Team Titles against The Natural Nightmares Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall. I actually enjoyed this match which I didn’t expect to. QT Marshall definitely had a great showing. Despite the resiliency, The Natural Nightmares could not stop the momentum of the champs as Omega and Hangman hit the Last Call on Marshall to pick up the win and keep their Tag Titles.
Abadon makes her Dynamite debut defeating Anna Jay. Abadon scares the hell out of me.
MJF defeated Billy Can’t Call Him Gunn. The beginning of the match was great as no matter what MJF did he could not get the upper hand on the veteran Billy. That was until MJF did the smart thing and attacked the left knee of Billy. As best he could Billy tried putting up a fight. When Billy had things in hand Wardlow hops up on the apron and tosses MJF the AEW diamond ring which he used to clock Billy in the head and get the win. Afterward, there was a huge brawl between MJF, Jurassic Express, and the rest of the roster.
Penelope Ford will be taking on Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s Championship at Fyter Fest and Britt Baker is not happy.
Ricky Starks answered Cody’s open challenge for the TNT Championship. They had a great, very scrappy bout with Cody getting the win with the Cross Rhodes. If Ricky Starks plans on making AEW his permanent home that’s a huge get for AEW. Starks has a great look, he’s one hell of a talker and a great worker in the ring.
Superbad Squad (Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc) vs. The Young Bucks: This one was a little weird as the Bucks took a really long time to get going and doing their usual schtick. Butcher and the Blade jump the rail and started jaw jacking. FTR came down to the ring to sort of even the odds. Superbad Squad looked great in this one and showed they could be a force in the tag division. Toward the end of the match, there was some great back and forth with some really close pinfalls. In the end, the Bucks were able to pick up the win after hit a tandem Kamigoye.
Big Swole kidnapped Britt Baker and threw her in a dumpster.
The main event of the evening was Best Friends taking on Le Sex Gods. The caveat to this match is if Le Sex Gods win they get the number one contender spot for the AEW Tag Team Championships. If that wasn’t enough, the Best Friends are looking for a measure of revenge after what the Inner Circle did to Orange Cassidy. The match itself was solid, great tag work. I was under the impression Jericho and Guevara would be picking up the win since they are the higher profile team and it would continue their feud with The Elite via the champions Page and Omega but that was not the case. Guevara gets tripped up inadvertently by an AEW cameraman. Trent takes advantage and hits a Crunchy to get the win. A dejected Jericho is still in the ring when the cameraman revealed himself to be Orange Cassidy. When Jericho realizes what is happening Cassidy takes him down and just goes to town with punches. Jericho runs away like a scared dog as the show closes.
I enjoyed tonight’s Dynamite. The tag matches were solid, Ricky Starks debuted, and Big Swole kidnapped Britt Baker on a forklift and dropped her in a dumpster. That’s a good night.
